Guidelines on Content
The pages and the contents of the pages of your website are extremely important. You need to decide what will sell your business and how best to set it out. There are a few guidelines set out below; however, it is worth looking on the internet to get some more ideas. Find out how the competition does things!!
Home page
This is where you introduce yourself and tell us briefly about your company. This is the most important part of any website. A good Home Page will grab the attention of the potential customer. It is more likely that they will look round your site if they can see exactly what is on offer. It is a good idea to have some photos, a brief list of services, where you operate and a little bit about what a good all round people you are. A bad Home page can have the opposite effect and quickly lose you the potential business.
About Us
Introduce the people behind the company. Tell us about your experience and your capabilities. People like to know where you started and how you got to your current position. Include other information such as qualifications, certificates and membership of any professional organisations.
Services
Tell us what services you supply and your pricing information (optional). Many sites do not offer any pricing information and this is a difficult area for the small builder or tradesman. The advantage of having a few examples of your prices is that people will know the market you are in and are more likely to request more information.
Contact us
You can put as much or as little as you like into this page. Email address, phone number, company address or just a simple contact form that people can use to send you their details and requirements. We recommend the form as this will prevent unsolicited contact from spammers and sales people.
Gallery
It’s always nice to see some photos of your work. People appreciate what you can achieve and a gallery will get their imagination working.
Testimonials
You are only as good as your last job, so keep your testimonials up to date. Trades live on their reputation so after every contract ask the homeowner for a testimonial.
Content Management
Interness can supply you with a Content Management System (Joomla!) that will allow you to update the content of your website yourself. You simply need to login to your website and update articles, photos, contact details or any content that you have supplied. The system does not require any software downloads and is easy to use.
